Lies we tell ourselves...

I have a voice in my head and bet you do too.  It is the voice which encourages mediocrity.  The voice that tells an association executive things are just fine the way they are.  The voice tells us lies like this...

1. Mr. Prospect wants information about us!  He's nice to me on the phone!  Put him in the pipeline at a 50% chance to close!
2. You don't need to call that old client and friend.  She isn't going anywhere.  Your firm has been working for her years now and doing great work.
3. Do all our business on referrals.  That's all you will ever need.
4. Members love your magazine and newsletter.  It is the organization's most popular member benefit! and, finally...
5. Go ahead and call them tomorrow.
